Got a question about Mother Mercy? You're in the right place. From bookings and walk-ins to cocktails, private hire and everything in between, we've answered some of the questions we're asked most often.

  • Full venue hire is available at Café Mercy, Cloth Market, Durham, Fenwick and Heaton. Café Mercy and Cloth also offer semi-private back areas for smaller groups.

  • We welcome corporate parties, team socials, client entertaining, Christmas parties, birthdays, product launches, cocktail masterclasses and bespoke events. Networking events are available at Café Mercy only.

  • Your minimum spend depends on your chosen venue, event date and time. Share your plans and estimated budget with Iona and we’ll prepare a quote. A service charge applies: 10% at Fenwick, 5% at Heaton and 7.5% at Café Mercy, Cloth Market and Durham.

  • Your group must be large enough to fill at least one of the available hire spaces. We’ll discuss the right space for your numbers when you enquire. Maximum capacity depends on the venue and event layout.

  • Tell us your preferred date, start time and event length and we’ll check the options. Hire times depend on the venue and its licence, with no event running later than midnight. If a venue is normally closed on a Monday or Tuesday, full venue hire is required on those days.

  • Cloth is for over 18s only. Under 18s are welcome at all other venues until 8pm.

  • Café Mercy and Fenwick are fully accessible. Cloth, Durham and Heaton have stairs to the venue and/or toilets. Please tell us about any access requirements so we can discuss the most suitable venue for your guests.

  • Please submit all drinks preorders at least two weeks before your event.

  • Bookings can be amended up to two weeks before the event, subject to venue availability. Please contact Iona to discuss any changes.
